Welcome to the Praxeum Chronicles live blog! This is waypoint record of both my experiences with the MMORPG, as well as the ongoing story I'm writing, based on my adventures within the game. The story follows two paladins -- Liam mac Roi, of Northshire and Freaja Bloodsun of Silvermoon -- as they find their paths crossing and moving forwards, in their personal quests and in furthering the goals of their respective Orders.

Some New Faces...

...in Some Old Places.

Slow Story Progress is Slow. But, for the most part, I've been getting some new, juicy material to use for future chapters of "The Praxeum Chronicles" from playing WoW. Particularlly since my main, Macroi, has been leveling up in Zangramarsh in Outland.

I've also been working with a new main on a separate server. A friend who has a house-guild on Blade's Edge has convinced me to give the Shaman class a go, so now I have a new character that may be cropping up in the future plot of the story.

Also, considering it's the night of the Winter's Veil celebration, I want to send out to everyone a very Merry Christmas, and hoping that the holiday season is a good one for you and yours.

Character Profile 003

3rd of ??? profiles, to give you the reader some background on the characters that are part of "The Praxeum Chronicles". Daily Post #2, and here's the female protagonist of our story.

Enjoy! For the Praxeum! -- SSJ

 Freaja Sin’belorei (Bloodsun)

    * Gender: Female
    * Race: Blood Elf (Sin’dorei)
    * Eyes: Forest Green
    * Eyes Glow: Fel Green (currently)
    * Hair: Auburn Red w/ Gold Highlights.
    * Height:  5’ 11"

    * Occupation: Unknown.
    * Rank: Unknown.
    * Birthplace: Silvermoon City, Kingdom of Quel’thalas.
    * Base of Operations: Silvermoon City, Kingdome of Quel’thalas.
    * Affiliation: The Horde.

    * Abilities: Freaja has the inherent arcane abilities of her race, as such is capable of taping into mana-based and fel-based energy sources to either use to cast spells, or stave off the arcane addiction that is a hallmark of the Sin’dorei. She has proven to know some basic martial skills -- riding, the use of armor and basic combat skills -- but it is not clear if she has had formal combat training as yet. She does have strong diplomatic skills and has proven to be very educated on the laws of war.

The youngest daughter (one half of a pair of twins -- her brother is Freajr Sin’belore) of one of the noblest of families in Quel'thalas, Freaja was raised in the hopes of following her father -- Odan Sin’belore, a highly-learned scholar -- in his path of teaching. As such, for his wisdom and level-headed-ness, Odan achieved a high role as a leader among her people, and it was intended that Freaja would also benefit from learning at his side, as he stood among the Council of Silvermoon.

However, the invasion of the Scourge and the death knight Arthas changed everything. Near the apex of the Scourge assault, her father was struck by a plague-carrier and, as a result, was rendered blind. After the attack, and the resulting revivial of Kel’Thuzed, when the bulk of the Scourge left Quel’thalas in ruins, the remnants of the High Elves -- now called the Sin’dorei -- worked to rebuild was was left of their race and capital.

Despite the fact that nearly all of the elves in Quel'thalas were wiped out, Freaja, her father Odan, her brother Freajr and her two elder sisters Sifya and Helyna had managed to survive the slaughter and were among the first to join in the rebuilding effort.

It is unclear as to why she was discovered in a slaver’s cage in the wilds of the Eastern Kingdoms, but it is linked to a secret that Freaja herself is both reluctant to reveal herself, and is the source of a mystery that she -- and the paladin, Liam mac Roi are keen to unravel.

Character Profile 002

2nd of ??? profiles, to give you the reader some background on the characters that are part of "The Praxeum Chronicles". Here, I present Liam's companiions... after all, every hero needs his side-kicks. ^_^

Rhandall Sturmhahn

    * Gender: Male
    * Race: Dwarf (Wildhammer)
    * Eyes: Gray-Green
    * Hair: Deep-Red
    * Height: 4’ 5”

Hanna Sturmhahn

    * Gender: Female
    * Race: Dwarf (Wildhammer)
    * Eyes: Gray-Blue
    * Hair: Golden-Red
    * Height: 4’ 2”

    * Occupations: Tracker, Hunter.
    * Ranks: Master-Sergeant / Sergeant-Major
    * Birthplace: Aerie Peak, Hinterlands.
    * Base of Operations: Ironforge, Dun Morogh
    * Affiliations: The Hunters’ Guild, The Order of the Praxeum.

    * Abilities: As both Hanna and Rhandall are hunters, they are both skilled trackers, accomplished beast-masters and survivalists. Both are highly-trained marksmen and take their skills with guns very seriously; Rhandall is more concerned with precision, while Hanna believes in quick-shooting speed. The Cousins carry specially-crafted rifles with them at all times -- gifts from their guild's gunsmith -- and have both swords and axes as melee weapons.

Both have tamed hunting pets -- one white and one black nightsaber, named  Skott and Kryn.

Rhandall and Hanna are both cousins, and are members of the Sturmhahn clan of Aerie Peak -- with their fathers being twin brothers, Bronbor and Burdoc. Apart from being accomplished brewmasters, Bronbor (Hanna’s father) was a skilled tracker, while Burdoc (Rhandall’s father) was a master marksman. Both seeing the benefit of each other’s skill, they worked in concert to train each other’s child in both skill-sets.

By the time they had both reached their majority, Rhandall and Hanna had become two of the best hunters in all of Aerie Peak. Determined to become masters at their crafts, the cousins set out together to journey to the High-Thane’s city of Ironforge, where they joined the Hunter’s Guild and continued to hone their skills in the snowy lands of Dun Morogh.

Over the years, it was rare to ever see one Sturmhahn Cousin without the other. Rhandall’s ‘pig-headedness’ and open emotions are often balanced out by Hanna’s level-headed tact and guile. Through the years, they have become a potent and effective tandem-team of huntsmen and marksmen.

Traveling across Azeroth, while the Sturmhahn Cousins continued their training in Ironforge, they had many adventures while plying their trade-skills and have become friends with many people in the Grand Alliance. Chief among these is the paladin Liam mac Roi -- whom they befriended while Liam was part of a contingent of humans training with the paladin trainers in Ironforge. They are also acquaitenced with the thief, Trissa Twinblades, the Night Elf engineer Kajara Oakenspire, as well as Liam’s childhood friend, Aemer Solarin.

Rhandall and Hanna have both been made honorary members of the Order of the Praxeum, where they serve in an advisory capacity.

They both have their families back in Aerie peak; with multiple (as yet unnamed) brothers, sisters, uncles and aunts. (Bronbor and Burdoc are the only named relatives mentioned in the context of this story.).

Character Profile 001

1st of ??? profiles, to give you the reader some background on the characters that are part of "The Praxeum Chronicles". What better place to start than with the lead protagonist? ^_^

Enjoy! For the Praxeum! -- SRS

Liam mac Roi

    * Gender: Male
    * Race: Human
    * Eyes:Deep Blue

   * Hair: Russett Red
    * Height: 6' 4"

    * Occupation: Knight, Paladin.

    * Rank: Lieutenant-Commander
    * Birthplace: Valley of Northshire, Kingdom of Stormwind.
    * Base of Operations: Stormwind City.
    * Affiliation: The Order of the Silver Hand, Brotherhood of Northshire;
            The Order of the Praxeum.

    * Abilities: As a paladin of the highest rank, Liam has a multitude of powerful talents and abilities; judgments, seals and prayers for healing, destroying the undead and causing unmatched retribution against his foes. He carries two singular weapons with him; a two-handed great-sword, and a one-handed warhammer, named Molnirr (a gift from the Dwarf paladin and weapnsmith, Jorgan Ironbar.).

One of the most dedicated and honorable paladins to have ever served the cause of the Light -- first for the Order of the Silver Hand and the Brotherhood of Northshire, and in time for the Order of the Praxeum -- Liam grew from boyhood among a farming family in Northshire, to pursue a career as a knight of Stormwind; serving alongside his childhood friend, Aemer Solarin, who had joined the cause of hte Light as a member of the priesthood.

Although they began their service to Stormwind together, Liam eventually left Aemer to pursue his goal of becoming a marshaled-knight and defender of his people. Aemer sought to wander the world in search of others to follow in his belief of a truly ‘united people of Azeroth’. This would culminate in Aemer founding the Order of the Praxeum (with Liam to become one of its first Knight-Marshals in the future.).

During his service to Stormwind as a knight, Liam would encounter and befriend  many people in his own travels. Chief among them would be the Wildhammer cousins, Rhandall and Hanna Sturmhahn, Kajara Oakenspire, a Night Elf engineer, and Tully Strombar, a blacksmith who lives in the shelter of Ironforge. He also made the acquaitence of a thief named Trissa Twinblades -- after rescuing her from a ‘misunderstanding’ with the constabulary -- as well as an elder paladin named Sabine DeWulfe.

His service to those peoples and kingdoms that lay within the Grand Alliance became a hallmark of his dedication to the Light. His name became synonamous with the highest aspects of his beliefs -- selflessness, dedication to duty and willingness to give aid to all people, be they ally or foe.

Following in the belief that no one faction or race can hold against the threat of the Lich King and his cursed Scourge, Liam works to strengthen ties and alliances between the multitude races of the Alliance and the Horde.

He has a Father, Sister, and several relatives who are currently living, in their home in the valley of Northshire.

The Big Question #1

So, just what is the Praxeum Chronicles?

In short form -- it’s a novel-length story, adapted from the settings, characters and lore that make up the universe of “World of Warcraft”, as well as my own experiences on the various servers/worlds that I play on in-game as I’ve quested and gone up with the levels.

The story grew out of my initial trial-and-error phase of learning how each of the character races and classes worked within the game. When I first started, I was pretty much focused on the usual class/race combinations (Human/warrior, Nelf/hunter, etc.). Yet, as time progressed, I soon realized my comfort zone was with the paladin class, and that became my class of choice.

After all, being able to wear heavy armor and cast healing spells, as well as having the prestige of being a “knight”... no contest, really.

So, after a few months of playing, it was happenstance -- during a quest that dealt with a heavy dose of game lore -- that I decided to see if there were any resources online that could tell me more about the “story” behind Warcraft’s world of Azeroth. This led to the discovery of sites like WoWWiki, that opened up a lot of back story, information and more about the various factions, races and characters that made up the “story” I and millions of other players were taking part in.

The more I read, the more I got inspired to take a crack at writing my own story.

Originally, the story was going to be a humorous, one-shot affair, about a human paladin who find himself the object of affection for a Dwarven warrior maiden. Thankfully, I moved away from the humorous theme and made the story an epic adventure. The dwarven warrior-maid was recycled into a supporting character -- along with a male cousin -- and the second protagonist to play off the human paladin eventually became a blood elf (I’ll explain more about this in a future post. After all, can’t give away the whole store in the first day.).

So, what began as a one-shot, eventually grew longer, and bigger, until . . . I realized I had a much larger story on my hands.

It’s going to take a while before it gets completely told. But, then again, that’s one of the reasons I love to write; it’s the telling, not the finish that makes a good tale.

So, that’s what it’s all about: an adventure, spanning not just continents and zones, but also the journey of the character’s spirit, heart and beliefs. The Praxeum Chronicles looks to be one of those stories that -- when it’s all said and done -- I hope leaves its mark on the world of Azeroth.

With that said, why don’t you take your first look into the journey? Here’s the opening chapter -- The First Chapter of Book One : The Blessed Light.

Enjoy the journey! For the Praxeum!

"...and so, It Begins."

Thank you, JMS, for that singular opening line.

Welcome to the live blog of The Praxeum Chronicles. As the description says, this is a waypoint record for all things related to the ongoing story I'm writing -- based in part on the settings and universe within the MMORPG "World of Warcraft", and also on my experiences within the game itself.

Before we go any further, I should give you a brief breakdown of what you can expect on this blog:

-- Notifications on finished chapters of the Praxeum Chronicles story.
-- Articles revolving around my WoW experiences.
-- Posts for Artwork and other times that have a bearing on the story.
-- Random bits, bobs and ramblings from me as a gamer involved in woW.

I plan to do weekly updates -- usually on Saturdays, as time permits -- but if something comes up, random daily posts won't be that uncommon.

It's my hope that this blog will help to generate interest in the Praxeum's tale, as well as help to further support for Blizzard's game and all of their creations.

I hope everyone enjoys the ride! Look forward to hearing from all of my future followers and commentators!
